Further to what I thought was a really honest and inspirational talk from Ruth Davidson, I thought I'd take the opportunity to share a link to an old colleague and friends' coaching business https://positivechange.scot. Maya (Irwin_ who runs Positive Change, is an exceptional coach who creates a totally safe environment where you can just be you. I can personally vouch for the fact that she's pretty awesome at coaching and has had first hand experience of transforming her own mental shift to managing her own imposter syndrome in recent years. As someone who has watched this transformation with interest from the outside, the impact on her own attitude to others ...

I read an interesting Forbes article this morning I thought I’d share with you.... In it, the author has the opportunity to interview Dr. Marisa Porges, a former naval flight officer, counter-terrorism analyst, and senior advisor in the Obama White House. She suggests finding opportunities To help your daughter “find her voice and be heard” when growing up, even if it’s just at the dinner table. She suggests girls need to get used to advocating for themselves on a regular basis when growing up so it comes naturally to them later in life when it matters most. It’s worth a quick read if you have girls. https://www.google.co.uk/amp/s/www.forb ...

Good afternoon all, I hope everyone is keeping safe as autumn approaches! Almost every organisation, large or small has had to mobilise rapidly in some way to respond to the challenges brought about by the Covid-19 crisis. For some this has brought an opportunity for growth. For many this has challenged their very existence. Most are now fully preoccupied with how best to serve their customers, support their staff, adapt their operating models and simply keep their heads above water. The risk is that as organisations move into the adaptation phases of their strategies, opportunities to drive even greater future resilience or profitable growth are missed. Over twenty years of working in research and innovation roles has shown me ...

My Guilty Secret...

When I look at myself on paper, I’m always surprised at my achievements to the point that I even start to question whether they are overstated despite having been the one to deliver them. It was only a few years ago that I really started to relate to the feeling of ‘Imposter Syndrome’. A constant underlying fear that at some point your true capability is going to be discovered and that people everywhere will suddenly start shouting “What were they thinking putting her in that position??!!” and that I’d have to come crawling out with my hands up saying “Ok, you got me…”. In reality, I recognise that this is an irrational feeling and that I have worked hard ...
